Editorial Policy

This policy explains the standards we apply to every listing, ranking and guide published on Best Glasgow Lawyers, and how we keep our editorial judgement independent from any commercial activity.

Independence

Editorial decisions, including which firms are listed and in what order, are made by our editors using the evidence described in our ranking methodology. Firms cannot pay to be included in an editorial list, to move up a list, or to have negative but accurate information removed.

How listings are researched

  • Core details (firm name, Glasgow address, telephone number and website) are taken from the firm's own current website or from official registers, and the source is recorded.
  • Service information is taken from the firm's own service pages. We write every description in our own words.
  • Credentials such as accredited specialist status, and independent directory rankings, are only published where we have seen the evidence ourselves. Where a firm reports an award or ranking that we could not check independently, we either leave it out or say that it is reported by the firm.
  • Review information is only published with its platform, figures and the date we checked it.
  • Named solicitors are only published where they are named on the firm's own current website.
  • Each listing shows the date it was last verified.

Things we will never publish

We do not invent or estimate firms, solicitors, reviews, ratings, qualifications, awards, case results, success rates or years of experience. If we cannot verify something, we leave it out. Where information is incomplete, the relevant section of a listing is simply not shown.

If we offer sponsored placements, each one is labelled Sponsored wherever it appears, is displayed separately from the editorial ranking, and has no effect on the firm's editorial position or score.

Conflicts of interest

Where the operator of this site, or anyone involved in editorial decisions, has a commercial relationship with a listed firm (for example providing marketing services to that firm), the firm's listing carries a clear disclosure. The firm is assessed under exactly the same evidence rules as every other firm.

Our guides explain how the law and legal processes generally work in Scotland. They are checked against official sources such as legislation.gov.uk, the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service, the Scottish Legal Aid Board and the Law Society of Scotland. They are general information, not legal advice. Research and drafting may use software tools, including AI-assisted research; every published fact is checked by an editor against the cited source.

Corrections and updates

If you believe something on this site is wrong, please contact us or, if you are a firm, use the list your firm form. We aim to review correction requests within ten working days. Where a correction is confirmed, we update the listing and its verification date.

Removal requests

Firms may ask to be removed from the directory. We will normally agree, although we may continue to mention publicly available facts in general guides where they are relevant and accurate.
